This number’s just too low for a guy averaging 12.1 on the season. You’re basically betting he has a “normal” night, not a ceiling game. At 8.5, he can get there with a couple of spot-up threes and a few rim runs without needing heavy usage. Even if Luka and LeBron dominate touches, Rui’s role is cleaner: finish plays, hit open looks, punish closeouts. At evens, I’ll take the plus price on a season-average edge every day. Best prop on the board.
If you want a second look, Austin Reaves assists OVER 4.5 @ 2.25 is juicy given his 5.6 average. Price is doing a lot of work here. Just remember it’s more game-script dependent: if Boston clamps up and LA’s scoring dries up, assists can die fast.
Main bet: Celtics moneyline @ 1.84 (High confidence)
This is the whole handicap. Boston’s profile is just cleaner. They’re +7.3 point diff versus the Lakers at -0.9. That’s not noise — that’s two teams living in different efficiency worlds. Celtics are also 8-2 last 10 and defending at a level LA simply hasn’t shown over the season numbers.
At 1.84 you’re not stealing it, but you’re getting a fair tag on the better team with the better underlying margin. If you’re playing one market only, it’s this. This NBA betting preview doesn’t need more theatre than that.
Line lean: Celtics -1.5 @ 1.95
The -1.5 is basically asking Boston to win properly. With that +7.3 vs -0.9 differential gap, they should cover this number more often than not. It’s also a nice middle ground: you’re not paying the premium of bigger spreads, but you’re still getting close to even money.
