Queensland derby at Suncorp and it’s already pressure footy for two winless mobs. Dolphins leaked 40 in Round 1, Titans leaked 50. Everyone’s talking “fix the defence”, but I’m backing the side with more strike and a cleaner path to points.

This is one of those early-season reads where you don’t overthink it. Market says Dolphins, and the data agrees.

Best Bet

Dolphins Head to Head @ 1.40 (High confidence).

The ladder spots are ugly, but the Titans’ Round 1 profile is uglier: 10 scored, 50 conceded. That’s not just losing — that’s getting blown off the park.

Dolphins at least showed they can post points (30). And their named spine/strike is stacked: Tabuai-Fidow, Isaako, Averillo, Farnworth, Cobbo. If this turns into broken-field footy, that back five is exactly who you want holding the ticket.

Individual outputs back it up too. Tabuai-Fidow and Farnworth are already producing tries and run metres, and Finefeuiaki’s doing edge damage while still working (141m, 28 tackles, 1 try). Titans have a couple of bright spots (Faeamani, Kini), but it’s hard to trust them to sustain sets and keep the scoreboard moving when they just conceded 50.

Totals Take

Under 55.5 @ 1.92 (Medium).

Yeah, both defences were leaky. That’s why the line is inflated. But 55.5 is a big ask unless it turns into pure end-to-end chaos with high completion and zero respect for field position.

Even with Dolphins scoring 30 and conceding 40 last week, an Under here can still land if the Titans don’t do their share. And their attack number is 10 PPG right now. If they stall out for long patches, the Dolphins can win comfortably without the total going nuts.
