Numbers That Matter
Auckland games are averaging 2.6 total goals. Perth Glory are even looser at 2.7. Put that together and you’re basically starting the match at 2-1 before anyone’s touched the ball.
Auckland score 1.7 a game and concede 0.9. Solid side, but not some 1-0 machine. Perth score 1.2 and leak 1.6, which is exactly the profile you want when you’re backing overs: they can contribute, and they’ll give up chances at both ends.
Perth’s keeper situation is a worry too: Amos and Birighitti are out. If you’re chopping and changing between options, clean sheets aren’t usually on the menu.
The Edge
Auckland are 2nd on the table (35 pts) and Perth are 10th (21). The market’s priced Auckland accordingly at 1.48, and it’s hard to argue they don’t control most of this. Even with Gallegos, Pijnaker and Sakai missing, Auckland should still have enough control to generate volume in the final third.
